چکیده

We show that the rest mass of a system consisting of two photons is a relativistic invariant having the same magnitude in all inertial reference frames in relative motion. A scenario which starts with two photons where their frequencies are equal to each other the magnitude of the rest mass of the system depends on the angle θ’, made by the momentums of the two photons being equal to zero for θ’=0 and θ’=2π and maximum (2hν’) for θ’=π. The behavior of the photons when detected from two inertial reference frames is illustrated using a relativistic diagram which displays in true values the physical quantities (scalar and vector) introduced in order to characterize the dynamical properties of the photon. We consider that the obtained results should be taken in the discussions, some time fierce, between those who ban the concept of relativistic mass and those who consider that its use is harmless. 1 Mass is variable

It is assumed that, for particles having rest mass, mass is equivalent to kinetic energy with coupling constant c 2. This paper examines the consequences for Newtonian gravity, in flat spacetime, when mass changes according to speed and gravity. It is assumed that gravitational mass is the same as inertial mass. The inertial mass increase with speed is: m = γm 0 = m 0 / 1 − β 2 (1) where m 0 is...

Translational Invariance and the Space-time Lorentz Transformation with Arbitary Spatial Coordinates

Translational invariance requires that physical predictions are independent of the choice of spatial coordinate system used. The time dilatation effect of special relativity is shown to manifestly respect this invariance. Consideration of the space-time Lorentz transformation with arbitary spatial coordinates shows that the spurious 'length contraction' and 'relativity of simultaneity' effects ...

Masses of Astrometrically-Discovered and Imaged Binaries: G 78-28AB and GJ 231.1BC

The Stellar Planet Survey (STEPS) is an ongoing astrometric search for giant planets and brown dwarfs around a sample of 30 M dwarfs. We have discovered several low-mass companions by measuring the motion of our target stars relative to their reference frames. The highest mass discovery thus far is G78-28B, a companion to the M dwarf G78-28A. The orbital period is 4:18 0:03 yr, the system mass ...

Absolute Photon Energy Calibration of the BABAR Calorimeter Using 's

The e ect of residual 0 mass shift after \ideal" single photon calibration is discussed. For the case of the BABAR detector, operating in the (4S) energy region, the shift is estimated to be of the order of 2%. We discuss a new photon energy calibration algorithm using photons produced in 0 and decays. Based on 10 (4S) decays, we achieve a statistical error of better than 0.5% in the photon ene...

Causal Action-at-a-distance Interpretation of the Aspect-rapisarda Experiments

Physicists who support Einstein's view in the Bohr -Einstein controversy are now confronted with the challenge of interpreting in a causal way the non-local result just established by Aspect et al. [1] (see also refs. [2,3] ) and the eventual confirmation of that test in the forthcoming Rapisarda [4] experiment. To do this we start with a non-zero mass photon model. This is justified: (1) by th...
